Leonaur – A new publisher of quality Science Fiction and Fantasy

Please click here to download this press release in pdf format

Leonaur, a new publisher for quality Science Fiction and Fantasy titles released its first ten titles in December 2005.

Using the latest technology that avoids the need for a publisher to keep large numbers of titles in stock, while still offering a fast and reliable service to booksellers and readers, Leonaur titles are available “on demand” in good quality, cloth bound and dust jacketed hardcover editions and trade paperback editions.

Pricing is very competitive with hardcover editions ranging from £16.99 - £19.99 (US $25.99 - $29.99) and paperback editions from £7.99 - £9.99 (US $12.99 - $15.99). Leonaur believes that readers will view this value for money pricing as attractive, especially when compared to many books in the specialist and antiquarian markets.

Paperbacks are in a standard format of 140 mm x 216 mm (5½ x 8½ inches), with hardcover editions slightly larger. All text has been newly typeset and printing is carried out in both the UK and USA.

Leonaur will publish 2 – 4 titles of interest to SF and fantasy readers each month, with a mix of classic works from the past and books by respected contemporary authors such as Brian Aldiss.

"With large publishers less and less committed to out of print classics and authors’ backlist titles,” said James Goddard of Leonaur "we hope that our policy of returning to print works that are important to both modern readers and the historical development of SF and fantasy, at low to normal paperback or hardback prices, will encourage casual readers to buy. We also hope that keen genre readers will plunge in and try books that may have been out of print for many years!"

Leonaur’s first SF titles are a 3 volume, collected edition of the science fiction and fantasy of Jack London: The Star Rover & Other Stories, The Iron Heel & Other Stories and Before Adam & Other Stories. As their titles suggest, each 330+ page volume contains a one of London’s important novels as well as a selection of his shorter works. We believe this is the most complete edition of London’s SF and fantasy to have yet been published.

In late January, Leonaur publishes George Allen England’s pioneering Darkness & Dawn trilogy. One of the first literary attempts to deal with the consequences of a huge, natural disaster, these compelling books are exciting and fresh.

In the months to come we will be offering the collected science fiction & fantasy of Stanley G. Weinbaum – author of the classic story A Martian Odyssey, as well as our first titles by contemporary writers --- in short, something for everyone at close to irresistible prices.

Readers can buy Leonaur titles from any bookshop or online bookseller including amazon.co.uk and amazon.com.

More information, news of future releases, cover images and reading samples from each book are available at Leonaur.com.
